Do What Needs to Be Done

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 13, 31-35

Some Pharisees came to Jesus and said,
“Go away, leave this area because Herod wants to kill you.”
He replied, “Go and tell that fox,
‘Behold, I cast out demons and I perform healings today and tomorrow,
and on the third day I accomplish my purpose.
Yet I must continue on my way today, tomorrow, and the following day,
for it is impossible that a prophet should die
outside of Jerusalem.’

“Jerusalem, Jerusalem,
you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you,
how many times I yearned to gather your children together
as a hen gathers her brood under her wings,
but you were unwilling!
Behold, your house will be abandoned.
But I tell you, you will not see me until the time comes when you say,
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.”

Do What Needs to Be Done

1) He wants to kill you. Jesus is fully aware that not everyone likes him, but this doesn’t make him change his path; on the contrary, it makes him stick to it. It’s clear that if you’re doing God’s will and doing what makes you happy, what’s right for you, what you must do, you’ll do a lot of good, but many people will also dislike it. Always weigh what you are doing, its positive and negative effects,  or what’s simple gossip. You will surely also have “Herods” who will try to eliminate you. We all have them, but don’t let them stop you from the beautiful mission for which you’ve been chosen.

2) I must continue on my way. Ignore gossip and those who try to block you. Keep pursuing meaningful goals and helping others. Don’t let the need to please everyone, or simple fear, cause you to stop healing so many people and changing the lives of many others. Keep doing those beautiful things you do, keep striving for the future, keep fighting for what defines your life, and don’t let those “Herods” extinguish the flame within you.

3) Gather. Unity is what God seeks and what humanity has always had as a debt. How hard it is for us to be united, and how easily division and individualism stick to us. Today let’s pray for our Church, that it may be more united; for our country, that it may be more united; and for our world.

Never forget that something good is on the way! God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
