Faith

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 17, 5-10

The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith.”
The Lord replied,
“If you have faith the size of a mustard seed,
you would say to this mulberry tree,
‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.

“Who among you would say to your servant
who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field,
‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’?
Would he not rather say to him,
‘Prepare something for me to eat.
Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink.
You may eat and drink when I am finished’?
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you.
When you have done all you have been commanded,
say, ‘We are unprofitable servants;
we have done what we were obliged to do.'”

Faith

1. A mustard seed. Faith is something that God gives us; it’s a gift from God. Ask for it in prayer! Life can be so hard. I’m thinking of so many people who are suffering, and I know it’s not simple to keep your faith in those circumstances. We know that life is not easy, because we come up against many difficult situations, but faith sustains us.

2. Faith is power. And I’m not referring to mundane power, or the power of money or positions. I’m referring to the strength faith gives us. When there is faith, life changes and takes us to places we never imagined. God never abandons us, and it’s beautiful to become aware of what we can do with God.  Don’t be discouraged!

3. Unprofitable servants. The first manifestation of a person who has faith is service. The more your faith grows, the more it will manifest itself in service to others. Let’s keep on growing!

Don’t forget that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
