Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 3, 1-8
There was a Pharisee named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews.
He came to Jesus at night and said to him,
“Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher who has come from God,
for no one can do these signs that you are doing
unless God is with him.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless one is born from above, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.”
Nicodemus said to him,
“How can a man once grown old be born again?
Surely he cannot reenter his mother’s womb and be born again, can he?”
Jesus answered,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless one is born of water and Spirit
he cannot enter the Kingdom of God.
What is born of flesh is flesh
and what is born of spirit is spirit.
Do not be amazed that I told you,
‘You must be born from above.’
The wind blows where it wills,
and you can hear the sound it makes,
but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes;
so it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
To be born of the Spirit
1. Prominent. In life, being “notable” means being honest, having strong beliefs, and acting with integrity, saying what you mean and living by your words. This is how Nicodemus is described. God calls us to live consistently, which is not easy and often feels like a struggle. We all face inner battles, but what matters most is knowing how to fight and being open to accept help. Being consistent doesn’t mean being perfect; it means being genuine.
2. From above. Caring for our spiritual life is essential because it’s what keeps us strong. The Holy Spirit is always with us. Without spirituality, neither the Church nor individuals can grow. Jesus wants us to remember that there is more than just this life—Heaven is real and waiting for us. Each one of us has a special place there! Don’t focus only on material things like money or possessions. Instead, seek what is greater—aim for Heaven!
3. The wind blows where it wills. The Holy Spirit is working in your life today, reminding you that you are called to Heaven. Set your eyes on eternal life and true happiness. Be joyful and help others find joy too, because we are all on the journey to Heaven together.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
