Matthew 10,24-33

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Mateo-10,24-33

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 10,24-33.

Jesus said to his Apostles: “No disciple is above his teacher, no slave above his master.
It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, for the slave that he become like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul, how much more those of his household!
Therefore do not be afraid of them. Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed, nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light; what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul; rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy both soul and body in Gehenna.
Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin? Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Everyone who acknowledges me before others I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
But whoever denies me before others, I will deny before my heavenly Father.”

The disciple is not more than the teacher

1) Your place: many times we get disoriented, we fall into the temptation to believe we are more than we are.  This can happen if we feel we have a better job than another, or if we think we are better than anyone else. I have seen people change significantly after they had a promotion, even within the church. We must remember we are not better than anyone else. We are all on this journey together.

2) Clarity: Everything comes out sooner or later, so don’t be afraid of what may be said about you on the journey.  People talk. Sooner or later, it all comes out in the open. Hold your head high during these trying times. What is important to remember is that the truth always comes out.

3) The Father: Remember who we work for, God. He is the essence of all we do.  It is in our daily lives that God is always with us; continually journeying with us, not just a spectator. As long as we ask, He will work through us.

God bless you in the name of The Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
…and do not forget: Heaven is Our Goal!
