Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 24,35-48
The disciples of Jesus recounted what had taken place along the way, and how Jesus was made known to them in the breaking of bread.
While they were still speaking about this, he stood in their midst and said to them, “Peace be with you.”
But they were startled and terrified and thought that they were seeing a ghost.
Then he said to them, “Why are you troubled? And why do questions arise in your hearts?
Look at my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Touch me and see, because a ghost does not have flesh and bones as you can see I have.”
And as he said this, he showed them his hands and his feet.
While they were still incredulous for joy and were amazed, he asked them, “Have you anything here to eat?”
They gave him a piece of baked fish;
he took it and ate it in front of them.
He said to them, “These are my words that I spoke to you while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and in the prophets and psalms must be fulfilled.”
Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures.
And he said to them, “Thus it is written that the Messiah would suffer and rise from the dead on the third day
and that repentance, for the forgiveness of sins, would be preached in his name to all the nations, beginning from Jerusalem.
You are witnesses of these things.”
Touch Jesus and recognize Him. He is alive and well
1) “Peace be with you”: This is the traditional greeting of Jesus and we have say it during each mass. Today, do you have peace ? What takes your peace away? that is why you must never lose sight of the peace in your heart and everything you do must do is peacefully. Peace is one of the keys to know if you are doing what God asks of you. Seek peace and also strive for it.
2) Touch Him and see: today Jesus asks you to see Him again, not only in the poor and the sick, also in your family, in your wife, in your children… It is there that you see and touch Him. But also in the sanctuary, today visit a chapel and visit Him, stay a while in silence in front of Him so that he touches your heart and you recognize Him; if you can’t take a moment and sit down, close your eyes and talk to Him.
3) He opened the intelligence: today we have to ask Jesus allow our intelligence to shine, so that we can go on missions, not to be hardheaded or narrow minded. You are a witness of Jesus, go out and proclaim Him, get involved in the life of other, while also taking care of yours and in the process that of Christ, who is always with you.
