Matthew 25 1-13

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 25,1-13

Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom.
Five of them were foolish and five were wise.
The foolish ones, when taking their lamps, brought no oil with them,
but the wise brought flasks of oil with their lamps.
Since the bridegroom was long delayed, they all became drowsy and fell asleep.
At midnight, there was a cry, ‘Behold, the bridegroom! Come out to meet him!’
Then all those virgins got up and trimmed their lamps.
The foolish ones said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’
But the wise ones replied, ‘No, for there may not be enough for us and you. Go instead to the merchants and buy some for yourselves.’
While they went off to buy it, the bridegroom came and those who were ready went into the wedding feast with him. Then the door was locked.
Afterwards the other virgins came and said, ‘Lord, Lord, open the door for us!’
But he said in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.”

Wake up and be ready !

1) Prudence: This refers to people who plan ahead. It is good to live day-by-day but don’t be extreme… you might be what’s called a “Kite Christian”, who, like a kite, flies from one place to the other just because of whatever people say; or you might be an “Agenda Christian”, who gets tied up in the details ,programing each step. Prudence implies being organized and ready for anything that comes along.

2) Imprudent: This refers to the person who is too confident and does not see or analyze the complete situation. There are several types of imprudence: a) Physical; when you do something that does not correspond to the moment. b) Psychological; when you share your thoughts before analyzing them well.
c) Moral; when you ridicule someone by arguing that only you are right. Pay attention! You can fall into any of these…

3) The bridegroom: This refers to God. Sooner or later He will come to your life; you never know when.
If you are asleep, you’ll miss Him… or if He wakes you up, He will ask you to turn on the light . Be ready ! Don’t be over- confident… prepare and maintain your lamp ready to go! Prepare yourself; go to confession; it’s not enough just to hit your chest 3 times in Sunday mass. It means recognizing your strengths and weaknesses and working on them !

God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, Heaven is our goal !
