Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 8,1-3
Jesus journeyed from one town and village to another, preaching and proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. Accompanying him were the Twelve and some women who had been cured of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary, called Magdalene, from whom seven demons had gone out, Joanna, the wife of Herod’s steward Chuza, Susanna, and many others who provided for them out of their resources.
He went out with them to proclaim
1) Travel: Today we must be restless christians. We cannot just organize meetings and reunions ,we need to go out to the street and to look for our brother in need. Stop sitting around keeping chairs warm… go out and show the love of God. Jesus never stayed still, He was out in the street, going from place to place. You must go out in the street and look for those who need help. We must be a church that reaches out and makes a difference.
2) The disciples: They followed Jesus. This was the school of Jesus: just being with Him. The disciples learned to evangelize being with Jesus. The way of a disciple is to spend time with his teacher, Jesus, and imitate Him. Jesus goes with the disciples; this shows us how to be a community. We are all on the same side; we need stick together and to help each other; to be a strong testimony of community in our world.
3) The women: I want to take this moment to express my appreciation for every woman that works for God’s kingdom. I want to thank every consecrated woman, every catechist, every teacher, and those moms and wives that use their time to help Jesus. Thanks for your effort, even when others don’t appreciate your work or they might make fun of you. I appreciate your great testimony. Just like the women who followed Jesus, today you will make a mark on history because Jesus makes history. Thank you for being a woman that is in love with Jesus and thank you for your service to the church.
God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
