Luke 10 1-12

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 10,1-12

The Lord Jesus appointed seventy-two others whom he sent ahead of him in pairs to every town and place he intended to visit.
He said to them, “The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few; so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.
Go on your way; behold, I am sending you like lambs among wolves.
Carry no money bag, no sack, no sandals; and greet no one along the way.
Into whatever house you enter, first say, ‘Peace to this household.’
If a peaceful person lives there, your peace will rest on him; but if not, it will return to you.
Stay in the same house and eat and drink what is offered to you, for the laborer deserves his payment. Do not move about from one house to another.
Whatever town you enter and they welcome you, eat what is set before you,
cure the sick in it and say to them, ‘The kingdom of God is at hand for you.'”
Whatever town you enter and they do not receive you, go out into the streets and say,
‘The dust of your town that clings to our feet, even that we shake off against you.’ Yet know this: the kingdom of God is at hand.
I tell you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom on that day than for that town.

Go out and announce

1) He sent them: It is Jesus who calls you and sends you out. He does not send you alone, He sends you in community; two by two. You cannot do it alone; the Church is a community, and there is no differentiation among the members. Individualism does not help spread the Gospel. You can’t say: “Yes” to Jesus and “No” to the Church. If you believe in Jesus, you are part of the community and grow with the community. Remember Jesus said: “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I among them.”

2) Sheep among wolves: Difficulties always exist, for us Catholics. These difficulties are challenges and remember that in this world they will try to ridicule and defame you. The wolves have managed to get into the “sheep’s pen”… inside the Church. There are wolves inside our parish groups, and they try to tear us apart. They fight for positions and status. But in order to avoid their tearing us apart, and to keep our strength, we must remain in prayer and take care of our relationship with Jesus; our spiritual life. Jesus does not leave you alone; He is the Good Shepherd that walks with you and takes care of you.

3) Peace: We are preachers of peace; we announce peace and bring peace. We are not the ones who cause conflicts nor should we be conflictive. Today we need people of peace within the Church. We can’t be the ones spreading gossip and backstabbing our brothers and sisters. Let us bring peace to others and be announcers of peace.
Today, if you can, visit Jesus in the Eucharist. And when you are before Him in the Blessed Sacrament, ask for fortitude for our priests. Do you dare pray for them? They need you to go to heaven. What do you do to help your priests ? They are waiting for your answer.

God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
