Luke 2,1-14

Luke 2 1 - 14

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 2,1-14

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled.
This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria.
So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town.
And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David,
to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child.
While they were there, the time came for her to have her child,
and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.
Now there were shepherds in that region living in the fields and keeping the night watch over their flock.
The angel of the Lord appeared to them and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear.
The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.
For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Messiah and Lord.
And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.”
And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.

The manger

1) Joseph: At all times Joseph accepted the situation and took responsibility for what he had to do. He did not victimise himself, instead “he grabbed the bull by the horns” and did everything with faith and strength. What a great lesson we learn from Joseph.
Many times you and I feel victimised and ask “why me?” We even get angry with God. Yesterday, the priest I confessed to, told me something that stuck in my mind all day …he said: “you have to forgive God” and continued “because we get angry with God for things that happen to us and we blame Him.” During this time that we are preparing for His birth, make it your task to forgive Him.

2) Mary: Faced with the refusal of so many, she wraps Him up and puts Him in the manger. Mary takes care of Jesus, but bear in mind that now, for more than 2000 years, people have been rejecting Him. Mary is attentive, because she knows that others will come to see Him. Maybe Mary is attentive to you; you have been rejecting it for a long time and perhaps today you will find it. She is attentive.

3) Glory: The angels and the shepherds praise. The simple mixes with the supernatural. Well, this is what we must live during this feast day; the simplicity and the supernatural presence at Christmas. Seize the opportunity today to bless the table and make a toast to peace. Let’s pray together saying: “Little Jesus, who was born in Bethlehem, bless this table and us too. “

On behalf of myself and the entire Digital Missionaries family, we wish you a Merry Christmas and remember that “Christmas is Jesus.”

God bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Remember, heaven is our goal.
