Luke 4 14-22

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 4,14-22

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news of him spread throughout the whole region.
He taught in their synagogues and was praised by all.
He came to Nazareth, where he had grown up, and went according to his custom into the synagogue on the sabbath day. He stood up to read
and was handed a scroll of the prophet Isaiah. He unrolled the scroll and found the passage where it was written:
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,
because he has anointed me
to bring glad tidings to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim liberty to captives
and recovery of sight to the blind,
to let the oppressed go free,
and to proclaim a year acceptable to the Lord.”
Rolling up the scroll, he handed it back to the attendant and sat down, and the eyes of all in the synagogue looked intently at him.
He said to them, “Today this scripture passage is fulfilled in your hearing.”
And all spoke highly of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his mouth.

The spirit of truth

– He returned in the power of the Spirit. We’ve just started a new year. We have to regain physical and psychological strength, but we must also recover spiritual strength. Once again you must find a way to strengthen spiritually, taking care of the three things I always point out:

– Prayer, Sacraments, (mainly the Eucharist and Confession) and Service (helping others). These three things fortify our Spirit and do us good. Some time ago, I heard about a mission called “Ignis” that the Schoenstatt movement carried out in Salta, a province in the North of Argentina. The young people who had been there returned delighted, they even spent New Year with these families in Salta. To see more than one hundred young people returning with a smile on their faces, and enjoying their vacation visiting families in need; cooking, praying, and enjoying themselves while they did this, is so rewarding. Look for those things that strengthen your spirit and your spirituality.

– He came back. Jesus returned to Galilee, to the place where he was known, and where he knew everyone well. It is good to be able to return to your own; to accept your family and friends that you have known since you were a child. When some people return home, they even remember smells and aromas: grandma’s sauce, for example. You know, it could do you a lot of good today to remember two pleasant moments of your childhood. Do you dare? Think about it, and remember two nice childhood moments. For example: one of mine was when I met the “ghostbusters” (they were my idols) and my poor parents stood with me in line for many hours. But being with my idols was already the biggest prize! Another childhood memory is going to the country with my old man, I had a great time, I even became an agricultural engineer with him! Haha! What are your memories ?

– Announce: Jesus presents his mission and they do not understand. Today, think of your mission once again… consider your life-choice. Some will find it difficult and others will not, but you have to do God’s will, that which makes you fully yourself. Accept and face it. God will bring you out unharmed. Don’t worry, but take care of your life.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Heaven is our goal!

Your contribution help us to continue with our mission
God Bless You!
