Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 12, 44-50
Jesus cried aloud, ‘Whoever believes in me believes not in me but in him who sent me. And whoever sees me sees him who sent me. I have come as light into the world, so that everyone who believes in me should not remain in the darkness. I do not judge anyone who hears my words and does not keep them, for I came not to judge the world, but to save the world. The one who rejects me and does not receive my word has a judge; on the last day the word that I have spoken will serve as judge, for I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me has himself given me a commandment about what to say and what to speak. And I know that his commandment is eternal life. What I speak, therefore, I speak just as the Father has told me.’
Believe
1) Believe in me: Faith is a gift, it is knowing that your heart trusts Someone Supernatural. Faith is to be nourished and protected. He who has faith can have great strength to journey through life. Faith and reason complement each other and are essential in life. Today, God invites you to believe and strengthen your faith through three axes: personal prayer (personal dialogue with God), the sacraments (right now through online mass and spiritual communion) and helping others (from giving food to the nearby parish, to encouraging messages on WhatsApp).
2) Light: After this pandemic, you will have to look at many things. There is a before and an after. It will be coming out of the darkness because we want the light. Bring light to your life and also illuminate the lives of those around you. Brighten your life and that of those around you. He who has faith is an athlete of life and also illuminates others.
3) Eternal life: Jesus wants to conquer your heart! Each person’s experience of God is unique and personal. Do not stop to fight the small stuff (it could be a lot worse); go ahead, strive for what you love the most and for what you want the most. Nobody can take away your dreams. God wants you to be eternal. Life gives us an opportunity: let’s seize it because God is with us!
