Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 10,28-31
Peter began to say to Jesus, “We have given up everything and followed you.”
Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you, there is no one who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands for my sake and for the sake of the gospel
who will not receive a hundred times more now in this present age: houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and eternal life in the age to come.”
But many that are first will be last, and (the) last will be first.”
Leave all for the EVERYTHING
1) We have left everything: In the process of Christian life, one discovers that this path is one of daily decision-making. Because there are times when the things the world offers you are not compatible with walking towards eternity. One can relate this gospel to consecrated life but it goes beyond this, to leading a Christian life. Because following Jesus is a decision, like opting for the priesthood or religious life, or like choosing to go to mass on Sunday instead of watching a good soccer game on TV.
2) Houses: Jesus marks resignation in the roots of your life, in what we all think is the direction of your life. It is to Christify yourself so that Jesus enters your life choice. If you choose to marry, let Jesus enter into your marriage, if you choose the priesthood, let Jesus enter your relationship with the presbytery, if you choose a religious life, let Jesus enter your community life. Because though you are a married couple who works in movement or parish, a priest or consecrated person; if you do not seek to build a daily relationship with God, everything can end in your being a sellout (only pretending).
3) Heaven: Jesus reminds you of the goal you are aiming for, to live in peace and to know that you are searching for eternity. God calls you to go to heaven and from here on earth, enjoy this life knowing everything can be achieved in this life. Today, God gives you that push, so walk because Heaven is our goal.
