Mark 12, 35-37

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Mark 12, 35-37

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 12, 35-37

While Jesus was teaching in the temple, he said, ‘How can the scribes say that the Messiah is the son of David? David himself, by the Holy Spirit, declared, ‘The Lord said to my Lord, ‘Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet.” David himself calls him Lord; so how can he be his son?’ And the large crowd was listening to him with delight.

Sit at my right

1) To teach. If there is something that we must strengthen in our Christian life, it is the education in our faith. We must educate ourselves in order to be able to teach others. We have tons of formative materials: The Catechism, YouCat, videos, web pages, among them: digitalmissioners.com… We must get busy and work on our personal formation, to build up our faith. There is so much material, and so many people have contributed throughout centuries through meditations and studies! Why don´t we take our faith education seriously, and get busy studying it?

2) To hope. We know that sooner or later God will come into your life. He wants to show you that with hope, everything can be achieved; everything is possible, and everything can be faced. It is true that anxiety takes you by surprise, but keep trying … because life involves struggle and effort.

3) Listen. God speaks to people throughout history, and King David had to listen to what God was asking of him and his people. Today, God wants to invite you to listen to Him and understand where He wants to guide you so that you can guide those people who are right behind you. You have a calling, and you must study to be able to lead others. Moreover, you must learn to live in hope. God is the Lord of time, and does things exactly at the right time.

May God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. And never forget that Heaven is our goal.
