Luke 8:16-18

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 8:16-18

Jesus said to the crowd:
“No one who lights a lamp conceals it with a vessel
or sets it under a bed;
rather, he places it on a lampstand
so that those who enter may see the light.
For there is nothing hidden that will not become visible,
and nothing secret that will not be known and come to light.
Take care, then, how you hear.
To anyone who has, more will be given,
and from the one who has not,
even what he seems to have will be taken away.”

You are a light

1) Lights. I am convinced we all have something, a talent, a gift, or a charisma that characterizes us and helps us to take souls to heaven. This is why you have a mission here on earth, but you also have something that makes you unique and different. Stop for a moment and reflect about yourself. Remember, you’re a valuable person. You have something God gave you to help others make life more beautiful. If you do not know what it is, it’s time to start thinking about what this talent is you have to offer and help others around you.

2) Nothing secret. How beautiful it is to walk in life with your head high, knowing you have nothing to hide leads you to tranquility and peace. It is beautiful to be sincere and transparent in life, but be careful not to make your path cumbersome and not to walk on the edge. Remember, today your light can shine when there is transparency in your heart.

3) The one who has. You can help many people; you have that divine help and you have been granted your life to give it and donate it to others. Don’t be selfish. Rather, seek to always help others, in whatever way you can. Today, God has chosen you to help someone! Do you already have that person in mind?
God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember, Heaven is our goal.
