Mark 6, 7-13

He sent them

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6, 7-13

Jesus summoned the Twelve and began to send them out two by two
and gave them authority over unclean spirits.
He instructed them to take nothing for the journey but a walking stick
–no food, no sack, no money in their belts.
They were, however, to wear sandals but not a second tunic.
He said to them,
“Wherever you enter a house, stay there until you leave from there.
Whatever place does not welcome you or listen to you,
leave there and shake the dust off your feet
in testimony against them.”
So they went off and preached repentance.
The Twelve drove out many demons,
and they anointed with oil many who were sick and cured them.

He sent them

1. He sent them. Jesus asks us to be a missionary church. We are not a museum or a stagnant Church. We are a dynamic Church who seeks others, that takes risks and is always looking for the people that are in need. You and I, and so many others are part of this Church. Remember we must fulfil the mandate of being an active Church, not one that stays still.

2. In pairs. Jesus sends us to evangelize our community in pairs, because individualism is selfish and cannot subsist in the vision of the gospel. Jesus sends us out in pairs because it is necessary to testify that there are two axes in Christian life, the love of God and the love of mankind. This is the reason why we must fight individualism. It is hard to work with one another, to see a united front but God invites us to go out to evangelize together with another person.

3. Preach. We have to proclaim the love of God, to let everyone know that God loves us, and that He died on the cross for us. He left his Mother to love us as well. Proclaim that we must change our lives and there is always a chance for us. Preach that God never leaves us alone and is always at our side. Proclaim that Heaven exists and that we will continue our work till we reach Heaven.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and keep you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
