John 14, 7-14

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14, 7-14

Jesus said to his disciples:
“If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to Jesus,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”

Communion

1. To know. Getting to know God is a process; every time you go deeper into the ways of God you discover beautiful things that involve affective and intellectual aspects in you. That’s so because when you feel something inside your heart and you know that it is something that comes from God, it’s so fulfilling that it’s catching, and therefore it makes you want to know and learn more and more. This is something beautiful and I hope it happens or has happened to you at some point, because the truth is that it changes your life.

2.  Believe me.  God always works, never forget that. He continues to show his love every day. Your spiritual journey is a process. Faith cannot be forced or imposed. Accepting Jesus in your life is not about appearing, pretending, or displaying yourself for people to see you. Don’t be a Christian who lacks substance, who says one thing and does something different. Accepting Jesus means committing oneself to him.

3. Ask. Jesus reminds you that He is attentive and shows you his constant love.  He seeks a dialogue of trust and love, let him conquer you.

Today we pray to you, Lord, for everyone. We ask that we may keep on going forward together, that we may not be discouraged and give up. Help us to keep our spirits up and to know that we can achieve a lot with very little. May we be able to live our life with your Spirit and continue to grow in faith.

Remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
