John 14, 6-14

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 14, 6-14

Jesus said to Thomas, “I am the way and the truth and the life.
No one comes to the Father except through me.
If you know me, then you will also know my Father.
From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
Philip said to him,
“Master, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you for so long a time
and you still do not know me, Philip?
Whoever has seen me has seen the Father.
How can you say, ‘Show us the Father’?
Do you not believe that I am in the Father and the Father is in me?
The words that I speak to you I do not speak on my own.
The Father who dwells in me is doing his works.
Believe me that I am in the Father and the Father is in me,
or else, believe because of the works themselves.
Amen, amen, I say to you,
whoever believes in me will do the works that I do,
and will do greater ones than these,
because I am going to the Father.
And whatever you ask in my name, I will do,
so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything of me in my name, I will do it.”

Life in abundance

  1. He is the way. The Lord helps us see that neither Waze nor any GPS will show us the way we have to go in life. The only way to reach the destination is to go into yourself, to discover what you want for your life, to achieve fulfillment in what you do, being authentic and leading you to love what you do. You should aim at being yourself, not a photocopy of anyone or anything, knowing you are linked to God. That is the way: to know who you are, what you want and what God wants for your life.
  2. Show us. God invites you to show, not to demonstrate, that your life comes from God and belongs to him. Don’t let yourself be fooled by anything or anyone. Don’t live to demonstrate to the world that you are the best or the worst. Don’t live by the comments of others and don’t be attached to people because if you live by what they say, your mood will continually be swaying and you will be sad and inconstant, because other people’s comments can be very changeable. Fall in love with life, enjoy living and that way you’ll be showing that God dwells in you.
  3. Apostle. God invites you to be his apostle, to have an encounter with him. God never abandons you and He will never leave you alone. His love for you is so great that He’s constantly looking at you, but not at your deeds. Never forget that He gave up His life for love of you. Today I invite you to feel loved and cherished. Take a moment to think about God’s caring gestures in your life, because you know there’s someone who’s concerned about you and is very attentive. That person is Jesus.

Never forget that something good is on the way.

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
