Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Luke 4,31-37
Jesus went down to Capernaum, a town of Galilee.
He taught them on the sabbath,
and they were astonished at his teaching
because he spoke with authority.
In the synagogue there was a man with the spirit of an unclean demon,
and he cried out in a loud voice,
“What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth?
Have you come to destroy us?
I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Be quiet! Come out of him!”
Then the demon threw the man down in front of them
and came out of him without doing him any harm.
They were all amazed and said to one another,
“What is there about his word?
For with authority and power he commands the unclean spirits,
and they come out.”
And news of him spread everywhere in the surrounding region.

1) Astonished. How many of the people who are amazed by your life are actually there for you when it matters most? That’s why I always stress the difference between someone who comes into your life, someone who admires your life, and someone who truly stands by you. Just because someone is impressed by you doesn’t mean they are genuinely in your corner. In a recent interview, I said, “I don’t know if everyone coming to see me today will still be around if a rumor breaks out, or if I end up sick and struggling.” So don’t confuse admiration with loyalty. Don’t assume that people who praise you or put you on a pedestal will actually have your back, or that they will protect you when things get difficult—because admiring someone is very different from standing by their side.
2) What do you want? It’s a big question. It’s about discerning what God wants for us, but it’s also about understanding what you want to do with your own life. This question comes up often, yet many of us still get lost in it. When you’re not clear about your purpose, you can end up living for everyone else, losing sight of who you truly are.
3) Be quiet! Our greatest enemies are often an overactive imagination and the noise created by everything life throws at us. That’s why it’s important to do the inner work of taking an honest look within, so you can understand where you stand and where you’re headed. Don’t let problems and worries overwhelm you. Take things one step at a time and remember why you chose this path in the first place. Hold on to the essence of what you do and learn to quiet the noise of your troubles.
Remember something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
