Matthew 9:18-26

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Mateo-9,18-26

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,18-26.

While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward, knelt down before him, and said, “My daughter has just died. But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.”
Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, “If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.”
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said, “Courage, daughter! Your faith has saved you.” And from that hour the woman was cured.
When Jesus arrived at the official’s house and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, “Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.” And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand, and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.

Jesus cures

1) Jesus follows a man: Jesus accompanies a man who believes, without a doubt, that Jesus will be able to heal his daughter. Today, through your intercessory prayers, you too can help Jesus reach those who are in need of Christ’s help. Whether they are physically dying or completely overcome and lacking the will or power to live, pray for them. Today come before Jesus and take him to those people who need Him.

2) A Woman suffering from hemorrhages: The woman has been suffering for a very long time, not only physically but also mentally due to being judged and cast aside from society. All this pain pushes her into despair. Her faith tells her that by just touching Jesus, she can be healed. Don’t give up on your faith; keep on trying to search for Jesus, to touch Him. Continue to fight to get closer to our Lord; He will heal and relieve you. Don’t look to others for the healing only Jesus can give. Pray. Don’t give up. It’s your faith which will help you touch Him and feel healed from the all that makes you feel weak and helpless. ‘Touch’ Jesus today.

3) They laughed at Him: Yes, He was mocked by those who did not believe because they did not see the miracles. But you shouldn’t make fun of God, trust and have faith in Him because time eventually leads you to the truth. Even if everyone laughs at you and your faith, don’t let that get you down because for those who believe “everything has a solution”.

God bless you in the name of The Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit.
…and do not forget: Heaven is Our Goal.
