Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 11, 27-33

Jesus and his disciples returned once more to Jerusalem.
As he was walking in the temple area,
the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders
approached him and said to him,
“By what authority are you doing these things?
Or who gave you this authority to do them?”
Jesus said to them, “I shall ask you one question.
Answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things.
Was John’s baptism of heavenly or of human origin? Answer me.”
They discussed this among themselves and said,
“If we say, ‘Of heavenly origin,’ he will say,
‘Then why did you not believe him?’
But shall we say, ‘Of human origin’?”–
they feared the crowd,
for they all thought John really was a prophet.
So they said to Jesus in reply, “We do not know.”
Then Jesus said to them,
“Neither shall I tell you by what authority I do these things.”

Authority

1. He returned to Jerusalem. Always go back to the sacred. Don’t neglect your prayer time or the things that bring you peace. You will inevitably face situations of conflict and friction, because whenever there are social relationships or work with other people, conflicts or rough edges always arise. That’s why you should never abandon prayer or taking time for what is sacred. Obviously, it’s hard, but you must go back to it. In my case, early mornings are what keep me strong; it’s my time for prayer and silence. It gives me energy to face the day, especially on days when I know I will have to deal with difficult people. Find your peace in those moments of prayer and make room for them in your schedule.

2. They approached Him. There will always be people who question you and even cast doubt on the way you handle things. Don’t feel insecure when those close to you are trying to tear you down, question you, or wear you out. Remember who you are and the purpose of your life. Don’t stop helping those around you just because of a few people who look miserable and want to torment you. Keep moving forward with prudence and courage.

3. Authority. Authority is not earned because of the position you hold or the social role you perform; you earn it through your lifestyle and your love for God. You can have dozens of degrees hanging on your wall, but if you don’t live your life with coherence and conviction, then your life is just “hanging there”—it’s not being lived. No one is better than anyone else, though the pride that comes with a high-ranking position can make you believe otherwise. The only way to be “better” is when you understand that you are called to contribute to someone else’s life using your knowledge and your insight.

Never forget that something good is on the way.

God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
