Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 10, 46-52
As Jesus was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a sizable crowd,
Bartimaeus, a blind man, the son of Timaeus,
sat by the roadside begging.
On hearing that it was Jesus of Nazareth,
he began to cry out and say,
“Jesus, son of David, have pity on me.”
And many rebuked him, telling him to be silent.
But he kept calling out all the more, “Son of David, have pity on me.”
Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”
So they called the blind man, saying to him,
“Take courage; get up, Jesus is calling you.”
He threw aside his cloak, sprang up, and came to Jesus.
Jesus said to him in reply, “What do you want me to do for you?”
The blind man replied to him, “Master, I want to see.”
Jesus told him, “Go your way; your faith has saved you.”
Immediately he received his sight
and followed him on the way.

1. Blind and begging. You may be waiting for someone else to fix your life, supply every solution, or meet all your needs. But when that dependence is joined to “blindness,” you become especially vulnerable. When you can’t see and you feel desperate, it’s easy to be used or led by others. Today, ask Jesus to heal you—to restore your ability to see your life as it truly is. Ask for the grace to be fulfilled in God and in the person He is forming you to be, remembering that your life doesn’t depend on anyone else; it depends on God and on you.
2. They rebuked him. There will always be people who dislike what you’re doing—especially when you begin to face what needs to change in your life. That resistance is part of the cost of “regaining your sight.” Keep taking courageous steps to find yourself again and to truly live. Nothing is sadder than giving up or quitting the effort. As long as your heart is still beating, there will be people trying to help you keep going. You must keep trying, and you must keep investing yourself in the journey.
3. “I want to see”. Ask Jesus to lift you out of the vulnerability that made you believe your life depends on someone else. Ask Him to help you recognize what you can contribute and what you can accomplish with the life He has given you. Pray that God helps you discover what makes you feel truly alive—without depending on the “handouts” others may offer just to get by. Remember: life is about facing reality, not hiding; about choosing, not waiting for others; and about learning through your own mistakes, rather than living as a trophy for someone else’s success.
Always remember that something good is on the way.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
