Matthew 7,7-12

MATTHEW 7, 7-12

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 7,7-12

Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.
For everyone who asks, receives; and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.
Which one of you would hand his son a stone when he asks for a loaf of bread,
or a snake when he asks for a fish?
If you then, who are wicked, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good things to those who ask him.
Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the law and the prophets.”

Lent is meant for prayer, a change of heart and changes in attitude

1) Demanding prayer: you are always in need of God. God is always showing like the perfect father that He is how He takes of all his offspring. As a son or daughter, you must also tell Him your needs. Show Him what you need in order to reach Him.

2) Change: I divide this in two aspects: first weakness, it is where I am weak, and I work to overcome by recognizing and fighting it. It is marking a difference in my life, and with the help of God, I will overcome it. This is what I call a weakness, something that is marking my life, my story, I recognize it and I face it. I can either win or lose the fight to overcome it. The second aspect is wickedness, it is something I search, and I make it my own. I want to hurt others and it is something that comes from me. I rejoice from the misfortune of others and I break the peace of others. This is totally the opposite of what the Gospel asks of you today. Your weakness will lead you to get a great strength. If you look for evil, you will suffer sadness and bitterness. To change and pray for change.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
