Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 16,13-19
Jesus went into the region of Caesarea Philippi and he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that the Son of Man is?”
They replied, “Some say John the Baptist, others Elijah, still others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.”
He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”
Simon Peter said in reply, “You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God.”
Jesus said to him in reply, “Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father.
And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
Teaching means calmness
1) Who do they say I am? You can also ask this today to all the people around you. What are people saying about you? You must sense in your heart what people think of you, but you must be clear that this contributes to your life but does not mark your life eternally. Ask Jesus today to give you the grace to be authentic facing others and to be able to listen to the input of others that may help your life be better.
2) Happy with you Simon: Today let us pray for Pope Francis for his tasks and his apostleship. There are many people inside and outside the Church constantly attacking him. Remember it is important for us to know he is the father of fathers or how we know him with the title Pope.
3) The Church: you and I belong to the Church and we must remember what the Pope says “ a correction with love and affection is an input that makes you better, but the attack without love is an assault”. Let´s take care of our Church, I invite you to pray a Holy Mary and pray for the ones that have just been baptized, new to our Church.
God bless you In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
