Matthew 16,24-28

Matthew 16 24-28

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 16,24-28

Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life?
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father’s glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct.”
Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

1) With me: Following God implies following a lifestyle; a way of living; an ideal assuming reality. Being a Christian is living as Christ proposes, not a “cut and paste”… “I take this that I like, and remove this that I don’t like”… No! This way of life requires denial of self. Because there are limits in life… following a way of life requires parameters. Even when talking about following an ideology, there are parameters and limits. But we Christians follow a person, not an idea. We follow Christ. Remember, your attitudes strengthen your intentions. Others can see your intentions by looking at the way you act. Observing your actions is how I can know how you think.

2) Losing to win: Life is about taking risks; living is a challenge. Everyday is a challenge! It involves risk, but that is what it’s all about. You have to take risks to keep living. You have to think about it and be careful before you decide what to do, but sooner or later you have to do it. The problem is that nobody wants to lose… but you have to at least try.
A good businessman knows he cannot keep all the profit. A percentage of that profit has to be re-invested to keep on winning. If you keep everything, at some point (if you don’t invest) you will be left with nothing. The same thing happens in life. If you want to stay and control everything and everyone, you can be left with nobody and nothing.

3) God pays: The Lord knows what you do and what you don’t; He cannot be deceived. Do not stop fighting for your goal. The big issue is to know exactly where you want to go in your life. God can never be outdone in generosity and invites you to continue walkingwith Him day by day. Do not drift away from Him. Always seek God and see what God wants from you. Remember that even in the worst scenario, if you are with God, you can come out with something good!
God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Heaven is our goal.
