Mark 1 21 - 28

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 1,21-28

Jesus came to Capernaum with his followers, and on the sabbath he entered the synagogue and taught.
The people were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority and not as the scribes.
In their synagogue was a man with an unclean spirit;
he cried out, “What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are–the Holy One of God!”
Jesus rebuked him and said, “Quiet! Come out of him!”
The unclean spirit convulsed him and with a loud cry came out of him.
All were amazed and asked one another, “What is this? A new teaching with authority. He commands even the unclean spirits and they obey him.”
His fame spread everywhere throughout the whole region of Galilee.

Jesus’s authority

1) Teach: I really want to insist on Christian formation. It is very nice that we have so many different ways to learn about our religion: you have the catechism, YouTube programs, audios, internet classes, small prayer groups, etc. Take advantage of these and instruct yourself in your faith. Don’t just watch the Discovery Channel and the History Channel. Work on your own formation. Study and train yourself because today there is so much misinformation going around that it is necessary for Christians to know their faith. Here’s some Homework for you: What are the three pillars of the church? Investigate it and I’ll answer it tomorrow in the audio, but don’t be lazy. Search!

2) Possessed: I invite you to think about how you lack God; how empty you can be. It is necessary that you fill yourself with Him, but you will only be able to do so by praying. Everybody talks about reforming, changing, and reorganizing nowadays. When I think of Saint Francis of Assisi I see that, unlike Martin Luther, he took refuge in that intimate encounter with God. His deep relationship is reflected in his famous phrase: “Love is not loved.” Today the world needs holy people; people who are full of God, not full of theology or philosophy degrees. We need human and spiritual people. We need to free ourselves from that worldly spirit that makes us believe that religion is just compliance.

3) Relief: How important it is to seek peace within your heart. In order to live in peace, my proposition is to take care of three things: SINCERITY, AUTHENTICITY and SUPERNATURAL VISION. That is … always tell the truth; be you, and not just what others want you to be, and remember to do God’s will.

God bless you in the name of th Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Remember Heaven is our goal.
