Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 2,18-22
The disciples of John and of the Pharisees were accustomed to fast. People came to Jesus and objected, “Why do the disciples of John and the disciples of the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests fast while the bridegroom is with them? As long as they have the bridegroom with them they cannot fast.
But the days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast on that day.
No one sews a piece of unshrunken cloth on an old cloak. If he does, its fullness pulls away, the new from the old, and the tear gets worse.
Likewise, no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the skins are ruined. Rather, new wine is poured into fresh wineskins.”
Alone with Him
1) Depressive : This can happen to us, we can become depressive people, like John’s disciples and the Pharisees. Yes, «depress- ive»: transmitters of depression. We can be depressing Christians that instead of encouraging those around us, tend to always bring them down or speak negatively about everything they do in their life. We, who receive Jesus in the Word and in the Eucharist, must bring Hope to people. We cannot be always be depressing around others. That will lead us to be toxic people among our church groups. These people wanted to tear down the apostles’ enthusiasm because they were experiencing Jesus; we also can tear down the enthusiasm of so many people who meet Jesus in their lives and want to help others. Please do not depress the Church .
2) Dress: In life you should know that there are things that one should be cultivating, because life itself is dynamic. This requires to look at life in real time…the way it is right now and know how to bring Jesus’ message to people in current time. Today, we have so many new ways to bring Jesus to others. For example: the YouTube channel has mass, prayers, rosaries; we can even see messages from the Pope. Today, we must be smart about bringing the message of the Good News in a subtle and penetrating way. And I repeat to you “subtle and penetrating” because there are times when we want to impose the message of Jesus by force. This scares people away.
3) Alone: This is where I remind you that a time will come when you will be alone; alone with God. It is in that encounter where there will be a “before and after”, in your life. Some people will find it in their childhood or youth, others in their maturity, and still others at the moment of death. This encounter is the one that awakens you, and you realize you can only go forward with the strength that He gives you. This allows you to discover that in being alone with God one is enriched. Are you looking for moments to be alone with God?
God bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal.
