Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 12-17

Jesus said to his disciples:
“This is my commandment: love one another as I love you.
No one has greater love than this,
to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command you.
I no longer call you slaves,
because a slave does not know what his master is doing.
I have called you friends,
because I have told you everything I have heard from my Father.
It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you
and appointed you to go and bear fruit that will remain,
so that whatever you ask the Father in my name he may give you.
This I command you: love one another.”

Love and take care of one another

1) Love as the Father loves. This is the essence of our faith, feeling loved and cared for by God, our Father. It is God who has chosen you first, it is He who wants to win you over and wants you to play on his team. You are loved by God. That’s the beauty of our Christian life – knowing we are loved by God!  God loves us, watches over us, and waits for us.

2) One another. Being a Christian is not a burden, it is a gift! We should enjoy our Christian life. Therefore, we should take more care of one another, instead of rejoicing in other people’s downfall. Don’t be reckless. Don’t promote self-destruction and the destruction of others, through criticism and wishing them evil. Loving one another and building a Christian life together is the key.

3) For God’s greater glory. We must continue to work for unity knowing that we come together for Christ and not merely for a meal or a good time. We are Christians who come together to pray and celebrate that Jesus is in our midst. Do not make our union in Christ a closed club of friends, because if we do, there will be only a few who pray and many who just get together to chat. Let’s unite in Christ, not destroy one another!

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And remember that Heaven is our goal!
