John 15, 9-11

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 15, 9-11

Jesus said to his disciples:
“As the Father loves me, so I also love you.
Remain in my love.
If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love,
just as I have kept my Father’s commandments
and remain in his love.

“I have told you this so that
my joy might be in you and
your joy might be complete.”

You will know the love of God in due time

1) Remain. Remaining in His love means a lot for you and me. It means concentrating our life on what fulfills us and makes us happy. Do not take on too many tasks in your life, when you want to do millions of things but deep down you don’t do a single one of them, you lose your happiness. Learn to focus and to say: “no”. Remain in God’s presence, knowing what you want for your life and what you don’t want.

2) Keep my commandments. Compliance of God’s will is carried out through love, not rituals, not looking good with others, but through love itself. That means loving life and loving what you have and who you have around you. Sometimes we focus on the things we do not have and that leads us to forget what we do have. Your life goes further. Love what you have and value what is around you.

3) Joy. So, your joy may be complete and allow you to be authentic. Today, are you enjoying your life or are you always focusing on your worries? Joy or sadness and complaints are in your hands. What do you choose? You decide.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Always remember that Heaven is our goal.
