Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 11, 2-11

When John the Baptist heard in prison of the works of the Christ,
he sent his disciples to Jesus with this question,
“Are you the one who is to come,
or should we look for another?”
Jesus said to them in reply,
“Go and tell John what you hear and see:
the blind regain their sight,
the lame walk,
lepers are cleansed,
the deaf hear,
the dead are raised,
and the poor have the good news proclaimed to them.
And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”

As they were going off,
Jesus began to speak to the crowds about John,
“What did you go out to the desert to see?
A reed swayed by the wind?
Then what did you go out to see?
Someone dressed in fine clothing?
Those who wear fine clothing are in royal palaces.
Then why did you go out?  To see a prophet?
Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet.
This is the one about whom it is written:
Behold, I am sending my messenger ahead of you;
he will prepare your way before you.

Amen, I say to you,
among those born of women
there has been none greater than John the Baptist;
yet the least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he.”

Sunday of Joy

1) The Messiah’s works. How lovely that people may recognize us and look for us because of our deeds and not because of our words. Sometimes we are a bit boastful, and we like to go around telling others about everything we do. There’s no need for that! One must throw seeds in this world so that others can enjoy the shade of the tree we have planted. You must go ahead and do good.

2) Announce. Jesus’ message is that He came to heal and to bring hope. Today, you and I have been called to heal, resurrect and give hope to others. How much hope you give when you put yourself out for your children! How much hope you give when you sit at the table and leave the cell phone aside so you can share quality time with your father or mother! How much hope you give when you invite your wife to go out and you devote that time to her as you did when you were dating! How much you heal when you are able to help someone during the day!

3) Messengers. We are God’s messengers and we have been called to announce joy. CHRIST IS COMING! And He wants to be with us, always. Don’t lose your joy, don’t let the spark of God in you be lost to sadness. Keep moving forward! With a joyful person like you, we will manage to change the world. We are on the road to Bethlehem.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. And always remember, Heaven is our goal.
