Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 10, 24-33
Jesus said to his Apostles:
“No disciple is above his teacher,
no slave above his master.
It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher,
for the slave that he become like his master.
If they have called the master of the house Beelzebul,
how much more those of his household!
“Therefore do not be afraid of them.
Nothing is concealed that will not be revealed,
nor secret that will not be known.
What I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;
what you hear whispered, proclaim on the housetops.
And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul;
rather, be afraid of the one who can destroy
both soul and body in Gehenna.
Are not two sparrows sold for a small coin?
Yet not one of them falls to the ground without your Father’s knowledge.
Even all the hairs of your head are counted.
So do not be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
Everyone who acknowledges me before others
I will acknowledge before my heavenly Father.
But whoever denies me before others,
I will deny before my heavenly Father.”
The disciple looks up to the master
1. It is enough to become like the teacher. In today’s teaching, Jesus shows us how to live discipleship: look up to the master, don’t have an excessive eagerness for success nor the desire of being overly valued for each accomplishment. Simply look at Jesus’ life and live yours as He lived His. The reference for your life is Jesus himself, so look at each of the situations that you have to go through from that supernatural vision.
2) Do not be afraid. Time is wise. It’s time itself that leads you to the truth, to see who is who. And over time you will realize who really loves you and who does not. But you must be attentive, prudent and honest. Do not lie to yourself, because eventually the truth comes out and you must know how to accept it. When time shows you who is who, you will know how to accept it so that you will no longer allow anyone to hurt you.
3) Fear. In this life many want to take possession of your life and manage it as they see fit, but you must remember that God has given you dignity and that you have a path to follow. Do not let anything or anyone destroy God’s work in you that leads you to have that peace that only He can give.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
