Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Mark 12, 35-37
As Jesus was teaching in the temple area he said,
“How do the scribes claim that the Christ is the son of David?
David himself, inspired by the Holy Spirit, said:
The Lord said to my lord,
‘Sit at my right hand
until I place your enemies under your feet.’
David himself calls him ‘lord’;
so how is he his son?”
The great crowd heard this with delight.

1) To teach. One of the most important ways to strengthen our Christian life is to deepen our understanding of our faith. We need to keep learning so that we can guide and teach others with clarity. Many resources are available to help us grow, including the Catechism, ‘YouCat’ (the Catechism for the young), videos and trusted websites like digitalmissioners.com among others. We must get busy and work on our personal development, to build up our faith. With so much wisdom preserved through centuries of reflection and study, we should take our faith formation seriously and commit ourselves to ongoing learning.
2) Guided by the Holy Spirit. It’s so important to nourish your spiritual life! That’s how you’re able to hear the promptings of the Spirit in your own life. When we nourish that relationship, we become better able to live with simplicity and purpose, instead of creating unnecessary complications for ourselves. The Spirit moves us to: love people, believe in them, value them and empower them to grow. If these attitudes are missing from the way we treat others, then we’re not fully listening to the Spirit or allowing Him to work through us.
3) Listen. Throughout history, God has spoken to His people and invited them to respond with trust. Just as David had to listen carefully to God’s direction, you too are called to listen and discern where He’s leading you, so that you can guide others wisely. To fulfill that calling, we must continue learning, live with hope, and remain open to the Holy Spirit, trusting that God works in the right way and at the right time.
Never forget that something good is on the way.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
