Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12, 39-48
Jesus said to his disciples:
“Be sure of this:
if the master of the house had known the hour
when the thief was coming,
he would not have let his house be broken into.
You also must be prepared,
for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
Then Peter said,
“Lord, is this parable meant for us or for everyone?”
And the Lord replied,
“Who, then, is the faithful and prudent steward
whom the master will put in charge of his servants
to distribute the food allowance at the proper time?
Blessed is that servant whom his master on arrival finds doing so.
Truly, I say to you, he will put him
in charge of all his property.
But if that servant says to himself,
‘My master is delayed in coming,’
and begins to beat the menservants and the maidservants,
to eat and drink and get drunk,
then that servant’s master will come
on an unexpected day and at an unknown hour
and will punish the servant severely
and assign him a place with the unfaithful.
That servant who knew his master’s will
but did not make preparations nor act in accord with his will
shall be beaten severely;
and the servant who was ignorant of his master’s will
but acted in a way deserving of a severe beating
shall be beaten only lightly.
Much will be required of the person entrusted with much,
and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more.”
Be a prudent administrator
1. The Thief. Today, you must look at your life and be careful because there may be thieves who can steal your life, your joy, and hurt your heart. They are those people who take away even your identity, and do not let you live your life; they “kidnap” you and make you live the life that they want you to live. You are no longer the administrator of your life or your dreams. They have stolen them from you and have made you feel like you have nothing. The thief can be a person or a situation but take the risk and get your life back. Be alert because there are many people who want to steal your dreams and your heart, even your lifestyle. Don’t let anyone steal who you are. Be more cautious about what you say and do, because it may attract people who are envious and don’t want you to do well.
2. Take charge. Take on your tasks and get busy with your life. You may be waiting for someone to be your “life employee”, so that you do not have to assume responsibility for your own life. You can’t always wait for someone else to do things for you. Take charge of your own life and don’t be like those capricious little children whose mother has to prepare special hot chocolate for them and practically spoon feed them. In your spiritual life, you cannot fall into looking for someone else to tell you everything you must do. Work towards building your own life and take care of it; be a mature, responsible person. I prefer that you try to do things and make mistakes, rather than doing nothing and waiting for others to make your life perfect. Life is action; it’s doing and undoing with your hands and heart.
3. Beat. You cannot be violent with those around you. You cannot fall into the attitude of always wanting to impose yourself on others. Make your life and the lives of those around, pleasant. I suggest that today you try to make someone’s day enjoyable, make someone who is close to you have a good day, but you must also do something for yourself. This may be difficult, but by starting to look at yourself and knowing that we are all simply administrators of the life we have been given, (because we do not own anything), you will achieve many wonders.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
