Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according Saint Luke 17, 7-10
Jesus said to the Apostles:
“Who among you would say to your servant
who has just come in from plowing or tending sheep in the field,
‘Come here immediately and take your place at table’?
Would he not rather say to him,
‘Prepare something for me to eat.
Put on your apron and wait on me while I eat and drink.
You may eat and drink when I am finished’?
Is he grateful to that servant because he did what was commanded?
So should it be with you.
When you have done all you have been commanded, say,
‘We are unprofitable servants;
we have done what we were obliged to do.'”
Servants must fulfil their mission
1. Prepare my dinner. We all have a mission in life. Sometimes you must go through a long process to discover what it is, but once you do so, you enjoy it, because it satisfies and moves you, and it motivates you as well. The mission received by God has two axes: on the one hand it motivates you and makes you enthusiastic, and on the other hand many people will see that you enjoy and live your mission with love. Today check out what you are doing in life to make sure that it fulfils both aspects.
2. Grateful. God will never let go of your hand, He helps you to move forward and shows you how beautiful it is to serve Him. I do not deny that there are times when you feel hurt or tired, because there are mean people who seek to harm you even when you serve God and do your best. I do not deny that this also frightens me: getting tired of serving for fear of being harmed and hurt. But today the Lord shows you and me that we must learn from experience and that we are called to keep on serving because we can always count on Him.
3. Humble servants. God teaches you to live meekly. Remember that God appears in the tiny, ordinary things that happen every day, that’s why you have to be humble in life and serve with simplicity. Let’s not seek the spotlight of stardom, but rather let’s seek to continue serving with love and enthusiasm, so that nothing and no one may prevent us from giving a service of love to others.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you, be with you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
