John 6, 30-35

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 6, 30-35

The crowd said to Jesus:
“What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?
What can you do?
Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:

He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”

So Jesus said to them,
“Amen, amen, I say to you,
it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven;
my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven
and gives life to the world.”

So they said to Jesus,
“Sir, give us this bread always.”
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life;
whoever comes to me will never hunger,
and whoever believes in me will never thirst.”

The bread of Life

1. Signs. The signs of life will appear because God is guiding and illuminating your life. You have to discover those signs that define the horizon and direction of your life and reveal to you your life purpose.

2. Bread from heaven. You are invited to live in God, but you must feed yourself in order to live. God offers you the richest and most wonderful food: himself, in the Eucharist. And receiving his body allows you to continue walking and striving in life. God gives you the strength to go on.

3. The Bread of Life. In every Eucharist we receive Jesus Christ, who is our life-sustaining nourishment and gives us the strength to walk along in life. Without him there is no life.

Always remember that something good is on the way!

God bless you and guard you  in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
