Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 12, 54-59
Jesus said to the crowds,
“When you see a cloud rising in the west
you say immediately that it is going to rain–and so it does;
and when you notice that the wind is blowing from the south
you say that it is going to be hot–and so it is.
You hypocrites!
You know how to interpret the appearance of the earth and the sky;
why do you not know how to interpret the present time?
“Why do you not judge for yourselves what is right?
If you are to go with your opponent before a magistrate,
make an effort to settle the matter on the way;
otherwise your opponent will turn you over to the judge,
and the judge hand you over to the constable,
and the constable throw you into prison.
I say to you, you will not be released
until you have paid the last penny.”
Discernment guides your life
1. Discernment. This is important in your life, because life implies discernment and that takes time. No one should rush you in your processes, because you alone should make decisions which concern your life. Just as you become aware of some business or everyday issues, you must also become aware of what is essential for your life. It’s fundamental to learn to discern what’s important and what’s urgent, what contributes to your growth and what doesn’t. Ask the Holy Spirit to give you the gift of discernment so you may look at things and signs and discover what is most convenient for your life. Before making a decision, discern. Before discerning, pray. Those around you can enlighten you, but you alone can decide what’s best. And if someone tries to force you to make a certain decision, be careful!
2. Judge what is right. Learn to be fair to yourself and to those around you. It’s true that we fail and make mistakes. Remember that excess is always bad, that’s why it’s necessary to find the right balance between things. You must develop the capacity to see the signs God sends you so you can accept the things that come into our life and judge them fairly. You have much to give to society but remember that everything happens in due time.
3. Settle matters. You must learn that you can’t handle everything and that you aren’t always right. Slow down, think hard and learn to be humble. Remember that in life you sometimes must bow your head.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
