Matthew 9, 18-26

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
She will live

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9, 18-26

While Jesus was speaking, an official came forward,
knelt down before him, and said,
“”My daughter has just died.
But come, lay your hand on her, and she will live.””
Jesus rose and followed him, and so did his disciples.
A woman suffering hemorrhages for twelve years came up behind him
and touched the tassel on his cloak.
She said to herself, “”If only I can touch his cloak, I shall be cured.””
Jesus turned around and saw her, and said,
“”Courage, daughter!  Your faith has saved you.””
And from that hour the woman was cured.

When Jesus arrived at the official’s house
and saw the flute players and the crowd who were making a commotion,
he said, “”Go away! The girl is not dead but sleeping.””
And they ridiculed him.
When the crowd was put out, he came and took her by the hand,
and the little girl arose.
And news of this spread throughout all that land.

She will live

1. She has just died. When someone reaches their limits, they start seeking miracles or magic, driven by desperation and pain. When something or someone in your life is at the brink of dying—whether it’s a person, a romantic relationship, or financial stability—it often leads to a sense of despair fuelled by fear. Nobody wants to lose anything. Today, you may be trying to prevent the death of certain aspects of your life, even striving to revive a relationship at a steep cost. The key is to place these issues in the hands of Jesus.

2. Hemorrhages. There are painful stories you’ve been carrying for years. It’s tough and frustrating as time goes by, and you find yourself stuck in the same place. It’s crucial to seek Jesus. If you’re still experiencing hemorrhages of sadness, fear, or mourning, turn to Jesus and ask Him to give you the strength to move forward and find meaning in your life—to bring you to life. Living in a state of pain immerses you in a world of illness.

3. They laughed. Of course, people will ridicule you and even try to destroy you. The key is to remain confident in what you’re doing and to understand why you’re doing it. When you’re doing good and bringing life to others, people might start speculating about what you do and who you are. But today, you have the power to lift others up just by being present, simply by taking the time to listen.

Remember something good is on the way!

God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
