Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 18, 35-43
As Jesus approached Jericho
a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging,
and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening.
They told him,
“Jesus of Nazareth is passing by.”
He shouted, “Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!”
The people walking in front rebuked him,
telling him to be silent,
but he kept calling out all the more,
“Son of David, have pity on me!”
Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him;
and when he came near, Jesus asked him,
“What do you want me to do for you?”
He replied, “Lord, please let me see.”
Jesus told him, “Have sight; your faith has saved you.”
He immediately received his sight
and followed him, giving glory to God.
When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God.
What do you want me to do for you?
1. A blind person. He was sitting by the roadside. He no longer had any strength, but most importantly, he had no hope. He represents someone who has lost the will to keep going, who no longer wishes to struggle, and who moves through life passively, indifferently, without expectations and not actively doing anything. Reflect on your own journey this past year. Maybe the challenges you’ve faced have left you feeling weary, and your exhaustion is understandable. Perhaps you, too, feel “blind,” lacking motivation or energy to act. Ask yourself today whether you’re really doing something to shape your life, or you’re just watching it pass by?
2. Be silent. The crowd tried to hush him, wanting him to stop calling out. Have you gone silent, too? Have you stopped crying out to God? Perhaps the demands of daily life prevent you from coming together with God. We often say there’s not enough time, but that can mean we no longer make space to speak with or listen to God. You must make time to share your heart with God, to tell him what you are going through and to listen to Him.
3. “Lord, please let me see”. Today, let’s ask Jesus to help us truly see. Your life is a continual search for truth and meaning, and you must learn to see what is happening both around you and within you. Lord, help us to see, to be present, and to understand. Let’s pray that we might be able to see and have the strength to keep moving forward. Today, God wants to open your eyes to the reality that He is always with you.
Always remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
