Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 17, 1-9
Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother,
and led them up a high mountain by themselves.
And he was transfigured before them;
his face shone like the sun
and his clothes became white as light.
And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them,
conversing with him.
Then Peter said to Jesus in reply,
“Lord, it is good that we are here.
If you wish, I will make three tents here,
one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, behold,
a bright cloud cast a shadow over them,
then from the cloud came a voice that said,
“This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased;
listen to him.”
When the disciples heard this, they fell prostrate
and were very much afraid.
But Jesus came and touched them, saying,
“Rise, and do not be afraid.”
And when the disciples raised their eyes,
they saw no one else but Jesus alone.
As they were coming down from the mountain,
Jesus charged them,
“Do not tell the vision to anyone
until the Son of Man has been raised from the dead.”
Transfigured
1. A high mountain. To look toward heaven and experience the supernatural, it’s necessary to step back from daily life and dedicate time for personal reflection. Also, genuine friendships and meaningful closeness help us reach these spiritual “heights”. Be intentional about spending time with people who you can truly open your heart to and that encourage you to grow in faith, as well as making space to be alone with God in prayer and contemplation.
2. Moses and Elijah. They symbolize the pillars of our faith. Moses represents the Law, reminding us that following God’s commandments guides us toward a fuller life. Elijah stands for the prophetic voice, calling us to proclaim God’s truth and speak out against injustice. Yet, above all, remember that through Jesus, you are God’s beloved child. Your relationship with Him is not one of fear or formality, God isn’t a judge or an instructor, but family—He is your Father, your Brother, and your Friend.
3. Rise up. Today, you’re called to get up and embrace life, recognizing there is much for you to accomplish—for both yourself and those around you. You may stumble along the way, but what matters to God is that you continue to get back up. Shape your own journey and be courageous in facing new challenges. Your past struggles shape who you are and give you wisdom. Don’t lose hope; as long as you have breath, new possibilities await.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
