Matthew 8, 23-27

by Federico Guevara

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to saint Matthew 8, 23-27

As Jesus got into a boat, his disciples followed him.
Suddenly a violent storm came up on the sea,
so that the boat was being swamped by waves;
but he was asleep.
They came and woke him, saying,
“Lord, save us!  We are perishing!”
He said to them, “Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?”
Then he got up, rebuked the winds and the sea,
and there was great calm.
The men were amazed and said, “What sort of man is this,
whom even the winds and the sea obey?”

The Boat

1. Got on. You can’t keep running in circles doing the exact same thing forever. Sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and try something new, even if it stirs up doubt and fear. The truth is, you can’t win if you don’t take risks. There are times when you just need to pivot in life to get different results—after all, you can’t expect things to change if you keep doing the same old thing.

2. A violent storm. We all go through storms. But when you find yourself in the middle of one, you need to remember two things: first, the storm will pass, and second, never make drastic decisions while it’s still raging. When life gets stormy, your only job is to hold on. If you’re going through a storm right now, just focus on standing your ground and learning how to wait it out.

3. Faith. Learn to live your life with faith. Remember that keeping your faith helps you get through any storm. Don’t let fear cause you to forget God, and don’t let anxiety drive your decisions. Learn to wait and trust, knowing that life teaches us something new every day, even through storms. Pray for faith to trust and peace to move forward.

Never forget that something good is on the way.

God bless you and protect you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
