Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1, 45-51
Philip found Nathanael and told him,
“We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law,
and also the prophets, Jesus son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”
But Nathanael said to him,
“Can anything good come from Nazareth?”
Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him,
“Here is a true child of Israel.
There is no duplicity in him.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Nathanael answered him,
“Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus answered and said to him,
“Do you believe
because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree?
You will see greater things than this.”
And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you,
you will see heaven opened and the angels of God
ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
You will see greater things
1) He found him. Philip shows the heart of a missionary. He goes out, connects with people, and shares the message without delay. He takes the initiative and helps others discover who Jesus is. If you’ve found inner peace in Jesus, don’t keep it to yourself—share it personally. There are many “Nathanaels” who deeply need joy and peace. But evangelizing today doesn’t mean grabbing a megaphone and shouting on a street corner. It means reaching out face-to-face, person-to-person, even phone-to-phone. The message is no longer spread only through large crowds, but through genuine encounters.
2) He knows you. Jesus knows everything about you; nothing is hidden from Him. Today, God offers you a different kind of challenge: to work for His kingdom while fully aware of who you are. He chooses you just as you are because He knows that, even with your limitations, you can share the faith and help others encounter Him in a real and meaningful way.
3) You will see greater things. I promise you that if you embrace this mission and put your heart into it, you’ll witness and experience truly beautiful things. I remember once celebrating Mass in the hills of Tucumán. An elderly woman wanted to kiss my hands because, she said, they were the hands of Christ. I kept pulling away, but she gently scolded me: “I’m not kissing you; I’m kissing the Lord who lives within you.” That moment deeply moved me. Today, take a moment to remember one beautiful experience that has touched you since you began serving God. Look back with gratitude and remember how beautiful it is to know that God is truly present.
Remember that something good is on the way!
God bless you and guard you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
