Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Mark 6,1-6
Jesus departed from there and came to his native place, accompanied by his disciples.
When the sabbath came he began to teach in the synagogue, and many who heard him were astonished. They said, “Where did this man get all this? What kind of wisdom has been given him? What mighty deeds are wrought by his hands!
Is he not the carpenter, the son of Mary, and the brother of James and Joses and Judas and Simon? And are not his sisters here with us?” And they took offense at him.
Jesus said to them, “A prophet is not without honor except in his native place and among his own kin and in his own house.”
So he was not able to perform any mighty deed there, apart from curing a few sick people by laying his hands on them.
He was amazed at their lack of faith.
Faith saves
1) The astonished crowd: we find that whoever begins to follow Jesus finds a path of wonder and awe. This path leads him to look at his own life in a different way. Look at Don Bosco … he had a different perspective since he got to know Jesus. He looked at life from Jesus’ point of view. Today you can be that San Juan Bosco who sees reality in a new way. Be a person who follows Christ and puts Jesus in everything you do in your life.
2) They question Him: Jesus is also questioned; He is not even saved from this. How hard it is to be questioned! … How difficult it is to lead your life even when your closest friends question you and doubt your actions! Surely you have been questioned too. It is very hard to be judged by those closest to you… those who have known you for a lifetime. Instead of supporting you they question you.
3) Faith: However, Jesus keeps on going. Take notice of how Jesus acts…He does not stop because of being questioned, accused,or lied about.He looks ahead and keeps going. We need to keep on going too…But sometimes it is complicated when there’s a lack of faith. Do not lose your faith ! Today, do not lower your guard. Keep looking ahead to Jesus. You have to go on because God needs you and He needs your faith.
GOD + FAITH = being invincible!!
