Matthew 9,14-15

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Matthew 9, 14-15

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 9,14-15

The disciples of John approached Jesus and said, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast much, but your disciples do not fast?”
Jesus answered them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast.”

Fasting is renouncing to something

1) To fast: it is to hold a position of being without something. It refers not only to food, but other aspects, like fasting from the cel. Phone or tv. It is to make you realize you can lead a simpler life without that.

2) Not to be tied down: Lent gives you the opportunity that you have created superfluous needs that you can do without. They are not essential in your life.

3) To find the husband: this is the time to come back to God and take out everything that is not God related. Today´s objective is to meditate in a station of Jesus’ path to the crucifixion. I will meditate “Jesus falls”.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
