Matthew 5,17-19

Matthew 5, 17-19

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 5,17-19

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.
Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.”

To abide the law

  1. To abide the law: there are times in life that the bigger we grow, the more tricks we use. We do not learn to abide the law, but rather to escape or find a way to skip it. Life is marked with boundaries. There is a law that binds you including your conscience. So as a result, we must examine if we abide the law, we escape it or we disguise it.
  2. Jesus: Today Jesus comes and tells us as Christians that we must abide the law. The law that must be guided by the heart. Being a Christian, we must live as the rules are set, we cannot make them to fit our convenience. We must learn to lose to win. Today think from your heart if you assume all the responsibility and what the law implies, or you escape and hide from it.
  3. The kingdom of heaven: we must be careful not to fall in a legalism, people that live their lives like commissioners following a rule book. Life marks things, and the things that happen surprise you since life leads you to situations you never imagined. To reach the kingdom of heave you must arrive with liberty and assume all your decisions. Each day of your life is made by choices and decisions you must make. You must assume the responsibility. Until we reach heaven, we must go on.

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
And remember, Heaven is our goal.
