Glorified Wounds

Hey Father Rick here at Ave Maria University

Have you ever thought what a strange choice it is that the Lord came back from the dead and still had wounds in his body? Jesus Christ, his body seems to have been healed of everything except five wounds in his hands, his side, and in his feet why?.

What message is he trying to send to us? maybe he’s trying to teach us something about being wounded and how the heavenly Father heal, not by taking away wounds, but by glorifying them. Jesus comes back with wounds that have been glorified and maybe thats what we can do as well. I always think back, you know, its April 19th, this is the anniversary of my Dad’s death. My Dad died 33 year ago, long time ago, i was 20 years old and yet i still carry the wound of loosing him at a young age, and you know i’ve been able to see over the years though, how that wound got glorified through the ache that began when i lost my human father, i found the heavenly father in a way that was only possible after having lost my dad. And also, having suffered a tragedy like that at a young age, helped me to grow in compassion for other people who had lost parents, or who had lost someone close to them, and I think in that way, that wound, never taken away fully, has been glorified, because it led me to discover God and to grow in compassion for my brothers and sisters.

Maybe thats the secret of this pandemic, maybe as we are all going through this together, maybe we can grow in compassion for one another because we all feel similar pains as we go through this and our wounds can be glorified if they lead us to reach out to others in compassion to love a little bit more whole heartedly and to walk with others to the kingdom of Heaven. May God give you peace

We become united through wounds and compassion
