My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here, that you see me, that you hear me.  I adore you with profound reverence, I ask your pardon for my sins, and the grace to make this time or prayer fruitful. My Immaculate Mother, St. Joseph, my Father and Lord, my guardian angel, intercede for me.

The 13th of May, 1917, was a day that changed the course of history in many ways, the world was in a pretty bad state back then, there had been a war that had devastated most of Central Europe and, a lot of the other parts of the world that had been raging for three years, it had caused untold damage to many lives and it claimed the life of millions of people, it had cost millions of pines worth of damage to property, and had even destabilized a lot of the political situation in the world. One of the biggest players in world politics at that time was Russia, and the war had contributed greatly to destabilizing that country, to the extent that the Empire which had been in place for 196 years collapsed in the earlier part of that year, and Russia, which had been a strong country though, had suffered greatly economically through the war and was in the brink of anarchy, and there was a great threat looming that would eventually take over, the communist government would bring a terrible godlessness to Russia and reign for 70 years, after that fact bringing untold damage to Russia and to many other countries throughout the world

Many people

And, there were many people at that time praying and hoping for peace, as a result of all that had been happening. Whenever we are in that situation of terrible war, you’re faced if you’re a politician I imagine, or one of these key players in world politics with kind of two decisions, you either continue on the war hope that you win, at which case you have to weigh up what price your victory is going to come, or you begin to work for peace, and you have to make a decision at peace of what cost, who is going to be the real winner and who is going to be the real loser, and how are you going to manage the situation, as such that everybody comes out in that situation well, as you can imagine peace was a huge concern, and I suppose at that stage, everybody wanted peace, there were three main players in that war, Britain, France, and Germany, and there were very many important people in those countries who were gifted in many different fields of diplomacy, politics, statesmanship, and any one of them, I suppose, could have come up with solutions to find peace, and if they had had the opportunity to come together, and to discuss what they aimed, and what the objectives of each of their countries were, then maybe they could have come to solutions that were facing the problems of humanity at that time. You think of those three leaders of those countries, who were incredibly powerful man, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom was a man called David Lloyd George, the leader of France was a man called Raymond Wong Kar, and the Kaiser in Germany was Wilhelm II, each of them coming with their own background of politics, their own background of power, and how they had come to be in these positions where they could dominate the world, seen by who they were, and what they stood for. You can imagine that, in that kind of situation of war and desperation that God obviously had to intervene, there had to be some definitive sign given to us that God was on the side of peace.

13th of May 1917

And on the 13th of May 1917, something extraordinary happened, our Lady appeared to three small children, and what is absolutely amazing always to me, is that of all of the people in the world at that time, who really could have made a difference. All those who had positions and power to be able to affect change, especially for peace, thinking of these three important men, not one of them was privileged to see the mother of God, she chose instead to appear to three little Shepherd children, Francisco who at that stage was aged nine, to Lucia and his cousin was aged ten, and two Francisco’s little sister Jacinta, who was only eight seven years of age. Our lady brought a beautiful message to these children, she told them to pray especially to pray the rosary in order to bring peace into the world, she told them to pray and to do penance, and to have a devotion to her Immaculate Heart, she said many beautiful things also, about the Eucharist and the conversion of sinners, and you can easily read all about what our lady said and how she encouraged three children, but what really strikes me, is that she came to them. There’s a beautiful line on the first letter to the Corinthians, were Saint Paul writes, “but God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise, God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong” and I think that that is beautifully displayed in that little time in Fatima, where three little Shepherd children saw the mother of God, and they received this message, for hardness to be world peace through prayer and through devotion to her Immaculate Heart. And God chose workers.

Three little children

We can foolish in the world namely these three little children not any of the powerful people, none of the presence, none of the monarchs, because God knows how to pick the right channels. God knew that these three little children were the best people in the world at that time, in order to receive this message, and in order to diffuse that to all the people of the world, that they should pray, that they should do penance and they should have special devotion to your mother Lord. I might think that, maybe, these three children were picked because they had a great future ahead of them, well, one of the children did enter into a convent, and spent many years in religious life as a sister, Lucía. But two of the children were dead three years after the apparition, having died of the Spanish flu, especially this time on whether we are so acutely aware of the corona virus, and high flus, and pandemics that affect the world, we’re reminded that these three children were themselves victims of a terrible pandemic that affected the world, but they were still able to achieve something magnificent before that took place. These two little children who had died, and were canonized by Pope Francis hundred years after the apparitions, what they did in a sense by listening to Our Lady, and having the courage to tell the world, and tell the church this message, of how we were going to achieve peace, brought them to sainthood in a very short space of time, I think that’s a little bit disparaging, that God chooses what is foolish and what is weak, as if little children are just a weak little fools, well nothing could be further from the truth.

Matthew, chapter 11

We read in Matthew chapter 11, verses 25 to 26, Jesus said, “I thank you Father Lord of Heaven and Earth, because you’ve hidden these things from the wise and the intelligent,” and he revealed them to infants, what great dignity God bestowed upon these three children by allowing them to have the vision of your mother, and precisely because of their humility, perhaps that’s why you chose them to have this vision, they were the best three people in the world in order to see your mother on this day, because of their humility, because of their deep love for you in a very simple, but in a very profound way, and it’s not a case of choosing the full, or choosing the idiot, in order to make your message known Lord, no far front, what immense joy, and what immense dignity you bestow upon those, who first of all prepare themselves to be of your service, I can’t let this day go by without turning in prayer to your mother Lord, to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, the specific devotion which she asked of the three children at that time, and we pray for peace, in our own hearts and in our own world at this time, for whatever way we need it. Immaculate Heart of Mary, we ask you for your protection, help us to be humble like the three children of Fatima, and to love your son Jesus with their purity, and their joy.

It´s the end

I give you thanks my God for the good resolutions, affections and inspirations which you communicated to me during this meditation. I ask your help to put them into effect my mother Immaculate, St. Joseph my father and Lord, my guardian angel intercede for me.
