Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 2,41-51
Each year Jesus’ parents went to Jerusalem for the feast of Passover,
and when he was twelve years old, they went up according to festival custom.
After they had completed its days, as they were returning, the boy Jesus remained behind in Jerusalem, but his parents did not know it.
Thinking that he was in the caravan, they journeyed for a day and looked for him among their relatives and acquaintances,
but not finding him, they returned to Jerusalem to look for him.
After three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, listening to them and asking them questions,
and all who heard him were astounded at his understanding and his answers.
When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, “Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.”
And he said to them, “Why were you looking for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”
But they did not understand what he said to them.
He went down with them and came to Nazareth, and was obedient to them; and his mother kept all these things in her heart.
The parents of Jesus
1) The transmitted faith: it is wonderful to see this attitude from the parents of Jesus. To transmit the faith, it is a very vital aspect since we are born. The mother or father who puts their kids to bed and pray together, when you pray before eating each meal and when you pray together during family time. Going to mass each Sunday with the family, also an important example. All these are vital examples of our faith. They are acts of faiths that move mountains. Faith like every living organism need to feed and grow. We are witnesses of this faith. Can you remember your own experience, who transmitted the faith to you?
2) Search for Jesus: the search must be a constant one, and when you least expect many of us are walking around without looking for Jesus. Today´s pace of life is full of activities, you often put off praying and speaking to God on a daily basis. The search for Jesus has to be constant, even singing a song, doing a reading or reading the gospel, we need to use these instruments to get closer to God.
3) Mary: it is a vital pillar in our lives. Mary leads us to Jesus and has us in her heart because we are her children. Her mother´s love fills your heart and her greatest wish is to lead you closer to Jesus, her eternal love. If you are afraid, ask the Virgin Mary to lead you to Jesus. If you are depressed and with no way out, pray to the Virgin Mary to lead you to Jesus. She will take you to Him. Together with the help of the Virgin Mary we can achieve anything. Heaven is our goal.
God bless you In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
