Matthew 8,1-4

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano
Matthew 8, 1-4

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 8,1-4

When Jesus came down from the mountain, great crowds followed him.
And then a leper approached, did him homage, and said, “Lord, if you wish, you can make me clean.”
He stretched out his hand, touched him, and said, “I will do it. Be made clean.” His leprosy was cleansed immediately.
Then Jesus said to him, “See that you tell no one, but go show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses prescribed; that will be proof for them.”

God wants to

1 Purify. In life we wish for purification; to get rid of whatever stains us and makes us feel uncomfortable. Pay attention to the things in your life that make you feel uncomfortable and downcast. Purify your mind to be able to deal with difficult situations you will encounter. Do away with everything that does not help you. I know it’s tough but it’s better to cry hard one day rather than to suffer every day.

2 God wants to. That’s the good thing, that God wants to help you and He knows exactly what you need. But, you must come to Him and ask Him for help. He respects your freedom. He is never forceful, so ask Him. Don’t get tired of asking God. He hears your prayers and invites you to ask again and again. Don’t end your day today without thanking Him and asking for what you need to strengthen your heart, to grow in humility, and to make it to Heaven.

3 Fulfill. This refers to taking responsibility. You must be responsible and remember that in this life there are obligations and commitments that you have to fulfill. For example: supporting the church and going to Mass on Sundays. You too have responsibility towards God, it’s not just Him towards you. Remember your responsibilities to God !

God bless you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Don’t forget: Heaven is our goal!
