Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 1,45-51
Philip found Nathanael and told him, “We have found the one about whom Moses wrote in the law, and also the prophets, Jesus, son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”
But Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come from Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, “Here is a true Israelite. There is no duplicity in him.”
Nathanael said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip called you, I saw you under the fig tree.”
Nathanael answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God; you are the King of Israel.”
Jesus answered and said to him, “Do you believe because I told you that I saw you under the fig tree? You will see greater things than this.”
And he said to him, “Amen, amen, I say to you, you will see the sky opened and the angels of God ascending and descending on the Son of Man.”
You will see greater things
1) Found: Phillip takes on the attitude of a missionary: he goes out to find, announce, and show who Jesus is. If you have found inner peace through your encounter with Jesus, please go out and announce face to face your testimony. There are many people like Nathaniel out there. Jesus is asking us to witness in a personal relationship with another. Not to announce it over a loudspeaker, no. Person to person. The evangelization comes from the message given from person to person not person to crowd.
2) You know Him: Jesus knows everything about you, and you cannot deceive Him. Today, God shows you a different challenge; a road that implies hard work in order to reach His kingdom, while being conscience of who you are. God chose you just as you are.
3) You will see greater things. I assure you that if you participate in the process of evangelization you will see and live extraordinary things. This reminds me of my experience when I had to celebrate mass in a remote location in the Tocumanian mountains in Argentina. A lady there wanted to kiss my hands because she believed my hands were the hands of God. I would not let her, and she kept pushing me and saying, “I am not kissing you… rather, Christ who is within you”. This was a revelation for me. I invite you to think about one beautiful aspect that has impacted you now that you collaborate in the Church. Find it and remember it! It’s wonderful to reflect on.
God bless you and be with you in the name of the Father, of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Remember, Heaven is our goal!
