Luke 9,1-6

by Fr. Luis A. Zazano

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 9,1-6

Jesus summoned the Twelve and gave them power and authority over all demons and to cure diseases, and he sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the sick. He said to them, “Take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money, and let no one take a second tunic. Whatever house you enter, stay there and leave from there. And as for those who do not welcome you, when you leave that town, shake the dust from your feet in testimony against them.” Then they set out and went from village to village proclaiming the good news and curing diseases everywhere.

To be a disciple is to heal

1) He summons: Jesus summons, calls and gathers us together. Therefore, don’t stop looking for Jesus. Take your time during the day to be with Him. Either in the morning, in the afternoon, or at night. Jesus summons and calls you to work together, we are His team.
Sometimes it is difficult for us to work together, as a team. We must pray to God for His help, because we Christians find it very hard to work as a team. We love being individuals! There are times we try to claim the fame, and we like to stand out. But today, Jesus invites you to work together with Him as a community. We are a Community. We are different, but in Jesus, we are one and we must be united as one for the others.

2) Gives power: The power Jesus gives us is service.
Power to heal the brother; power that helps others; power which gives dignity; power that helps your brother find fulfilment. This is the power Jesus gives and no other. Those of us who are called to the Church are called to this power; not the power to be a boss, not the power of privileges, not even the power of wanting to be treated as the chief. The power God gives you is to help others and not to abuse them. Today, you and I must remember that the key point is to serve. We are called to service.

3) Providence: God will never let go of your hand. If you are a missionary, you will certainly see beautiful things during your life. One of them is that you will see how God puts people in your path to accompany you on your way. They are those little flesh and blood angels God gives you as guides and custodians. Therefore, don’t be afraid, you will always have someone by your side sent by God. God never leaves you alone.
Today, I give God thanks for all the wonderful people He has sent to be by my side and help me.
God bless you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
Heaven is our goal !

Your contribution help us to continue with our mission
God Bless You!
