Luke 16,1-8

Luke 16 1-8

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Luke 16,1-8

Jesus said to his disciples, “A rich man had a steward who was reported to him for squandering his property.
He summoned him and said, ‘What is this I hear about you? Prepare a full account of your stewardship, because you can no longer be my steward.’
The steward said to himself, ‘What shall I do, now that my master is taking the position of steward away from me? I am not strong enough to dig and I am ashamed to beg.
I know what I shall do so that, when I am removed from the stewardship, they may welcome me into their homes.’
He called in his master’s debtors one by one. To the first he said, ‘How much do you owe my master?’
He replied, ‘One hundred measures of olive oil.’ He said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note. Sit down and quickly write one for fifty.’
Then to another he said, ‘And you, how much do you owe?’ He replied, ‘One hundred kors of wheat.’ He said to him, ‘Here is your promissory note; write one for eighty.’
And the master commended that dishonest steward for acting prudently. “For the children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than are the children of light.”

Manage your life

1) Misspend: Life is the most valuable currency that God gives us. Many of us take this for granted and misspend our lives by living in excess. For example, when you dedicate more time to work and don’t spend enough time with your family, this is misspending your life. When you party all the time instead of working… this is also misspending your life. Everything should have a balance and there is a time for everything. Saint Augustine said: “maintain order in your life and order will maintain you.”

2) What are you going to do?
This is a daily question we pose to ourselves because we often feel that we are out of options. We do not know where to go or what decision to make. Jesus proposes that you discover what you are able to do in this world. We must discover our path, our vocation, and our goal… Which is your talent? I am sure you have one.

3) Cunning: How important it is to behave well with others; you never know when you will need their help. Remember, life is a coin, and sometimes you are on the top: “heads”, but sometimes you get “tails”. I often think about my job when I have to go pay my bills. I ask myself how much longer will I have a job that provides money for me to be able to pay for this. Remember, we are all in this together and like a train, today you may be the engine out in front, but tomorrow you might be the caboose! So be kind always… and always try your best. God-bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Remember, heaven is our goal !
